I’ll start tomorrow. Things are bad and I need to make changes. I’ll start tomorrow. I’ll start my novel tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow is the day I take charge of my marketing business and work harder. Tomorrow is when I start to get in shape and feel better. Tomorrow is the day I learn a new muay thai combo and really begin to push myself. Maybe I actually start training to compete, learn to defend myself or lose some weight.
Nope!!! Right now. Make the change. You can do this. Right now. If you wait you will likely always wait. I can’t tell you the number of wanna be fighters that like to hang out in our room and talk about how they hung out with fighters. They talk about what’s going to happen when they turn pro. The problem is that they never train. They talk. They dream, but they don’t put in the work.
Same thing with pr and travel writing. I’ll do this when. I’ll contact potential clients when. I’ll write a great travel story about Dubai when I win the lottery. Start now. You can dig through old posts here and find where I talk about writing what you see. Travel is where you are! Do it now. The reward will come. If you work people will want to work with you! Go to work! Quit post dating your own checks for success and get started.
Message me to get started with our pr program. We get you noticed in our various social media. Influence in a positive way. Need motivation for your team, seminars or help with a fight camp? It’s not that simple you say, but it really is. It isn’t simple doing it but if you don’t start the actual process you’ll never get there! Nothing worthwhile is ever easy, but that is why its worthwhile. You have to start. As I say over and over to people I train, you have to take the first step.
If you want to be a black belt, a fighting legend or just be a confident martial artist, research. See what is around you and see who you can work with and how much. Then go! If you cant afford it, really look. Change your spending habits, but also look. Lots of cheap clubs at schools, colleges etc. Not always the best, but a place to start. Soon we will have a video series available here. Just basics but cheap, and a place to start learning the basics so stay tuned.
Yearning to travel or have an adventourous lifestyle you write about? Start where you are. Seriously, look around your area and look for a story. Somebody wants to know about it. Blogs are easy to start. Heck post the story on facebook! It is a start at writing. No you wont get paid but it is a way to sharpen your skills and get your name out there. It is a place to start and that is how it works. Make where you are an adventure, and that will help get you to other places. That will get you noticed!
Whatever it is, start. Find out what, where and how. Then don’t just sit there and dream about it. Do what it takes to make it happen. Success is hard work. Enjoying it is easy. Go!

Elegant , Simple and Fresh ! Grilled Sirloin With Cilantro Butter Drizzle & Spinach/Basil Salad ( from the garden)
As I’ve said so many times,i love using fresh things from our garden when I’m cooking. As a fighter it was a way to keep a training diet fresh and health. As a torn up old trainer/writer/ wannabe foodie it’s fun and let’s me live out my chef fantasy. You know those famous chefs at a rural inn with a gorgeous garden and they show you all these incredible things they cook from it. OK, I know I’m goofy but indulge me here, I used to get hit in the head for a living !
Both my wife and I prefer a simple Sirloin to about any steak. Charcoal grilled medium rare is right in our wheelhouse. Perfection. Simple and gorgeous. For this one I add a twist because of her love of cilantro. The woman needs an intervention over this! Then again I grow mass amounts of it so it could be my fault. Dang, I’m cilantro kingpin, how did this happen??!!
The whole dish is quite simple. I put a little garlic and pepper on a piece of top sirloin, about 1.25# for the two of us. Grill medium rare, or to your taste(why change perfection). Toss a handful of cilantro( also fresh from the garden ) into a bowl with a couple of spoons of butter/ margerine. Nuke it to liquid. Drizze a bit over the steak. Then toss up fresh spinach and a bit of fresh basil into a small side salad. Dress it as you like, naked is great as well.
This is a great, fresh dish that you can have a glass of wine/beer on the patio while you make it. We enjoy relaxing and talking about our respective days while we do that. The dish is simple yet has a classic elegant look. The best part, it tastes like perfection!

In the interest of being hip, cool and timely I thought oh wait!!! Who am I kidding??? I’ll never be any of those things lol. In the interest of having fun and since it’s #nationalbourbonday (and I trace family history to Kentucky a bit) I’m going to review this Bourbon. Full disclosure: I love bourbon and am familiar with a great many of them. Secondary full disclosure: I drink eat and travel and sort of write about it. I’m a fighter, my review writing will be suspect lol.
This is a bourbon I became familiar with about two years ago. In our local Binny’s I was looking around. Out of the corner f my eye I saw this was made at Buffalo Trace. Buff is my fave period. No question!!! This bottle was $10. OK just had to give it a shot. Two years later I still always keep it around. To me it’s slightly sweeter than Buffalo but not too sweet. I’m not into sweet so thats a good thing. Classic earthy and aromatic but not with ugly floral or too much peat. If you’re a peat freak ( more Scotch) this isn’t you. I’m not huge on mixing bourbon if it’s good but my wife won’t drink it straight. Hence I have discovered it does do very well with diet COLA. A pool drink for us regularly.
For $10 give it a try. It’s become a staple of my bar at home. A truly pleasant surprise. If you’d like to work with us as a brand ambassador or social ads email me today. email@example.com & follow @combatsportlife on Twitter.
The Title might make you think it’s about monetary success. Nope. Personal, monetary and effect on humanity. All of those are metrics and sometimes they are combined. Time to understand why you do what you do. It doesn’t matter what you are training people to do. I’ll aim what I write at martial arts/Muay Thai/mma trainers as I spent decades in that world ( still there ) but ive also trained personnel in forex trading and social media marketing. The answers and reasons are similar.
As an old po fighter I live working with the upcoming animals and pros. It is who I was and it pays well. Wanna know a secret? The free class I teach motivates me. These kids often don’t have much. Sometimes that night working with us is the only time anybody spent time with them that day. That’s what motivates me. Handing down knowledge. Helping them get better. Helping them be confident. It’s true throughout my classes and students. That class motivates m to do well as a trainer so I can keep teaching that group for free. It boils down to making sure I have knowledge to hand down. At each level. If my seminars didn’t help pros and solid dojo’s, it wouldn’t work. If my promo work for companies was bad???!!! I get to travel to teach people at seminars and promote while I’m there as well. If I didn’t have something worth handing down, the chain is broken and the money doesn’t matter. The money would not come in. Get motivated. Know what motivates you, then build your program/product.
It’s the same teaching people to trade forex or teaching people about social media marketing. If you don’t have good legitimate information to teach them, you’ll crash and burn!!!! You have to enjoy teaching and training whether it’s Muay Thai/ mma/ karate or social media marketing. If a guy pays you to teach him to trade forex, you need to actually know what you are doing. Otherwise your just another scammer headed for a bad end.
Understand why you are a trainer. Understand what motivates you. Otherwise just get out of the game. If you need help with personal coaching, seminars in your dojo or great advertising/ marketing campaigns hit us up. Inexpensive rates and engaged following plus you’ll have fun! I love Vegas. For so many reasons. One of them is that I love art. I know less than a kindergarten child about it but I love it. As someone who has lots of brain trauma from fighting, art helps me relax, enjoy and learn. If you wander around around Las Vegas you will find incredible art. Seriously just walking around. You don’t have to pay for a museum, installation etc. It’s just there. From expensive pieces from masters to performance art and incredible fountain/landscape pieces. It is a feast for the senses. Take a look at these pictures and get an idea of how you can view and learn just walking around.
For me there is nothing like being able to walk and see incredible art in public areas. Yes Las Vegas is basically one big performance piece, but you can see so much more if you just open your eyes. From fountains and sculpt to opera singers wandering. From master paintings to a 28 million dollar sculp, pictured with my hot wife and her hot coworker/friend on a trip last year. Yep, Steve Wynn turned down 28 million for multi colored Popeye!!!

Well on #motivationmonday I want to make this point ! You can start. If you have a dream, something you want to do then you need to do what you can. I didn’t grow up with money. It was something far less than money that occasionally resembled a tiny amount of money! Its why I started fighting professionally for small amounts at such a young age. My parents are great hard working people, we just didn’t have money. Heck, I’ve had periods as an adult that I had nothing! My reason for saying this is that I want you to understand that you can start and you can do it.
I’m blessed. No argument. I know I am. I know God must really love me. Still, it was a struggle. Whether trying to find training, starting on Wall Street or getting into writing/PR. It’s just a fact. It was always hard to find and get there. That is what makes it sweeeet! It also allows me to be comfortable enjoying the simple and local. Yes I’ve been all over and get paid to enjoy and promote/ write about luxury. Didn’t start like that, and I enjoy walking around taking pictures of and writing about some small town 20 minutes from me as much as I do anything. In the coming weeks I’ll do a bit more if those just to show that you can make an interesting article out of what’s around you. I should do that more often but IM Busy!!!! Lol. Not complaining. Martial arts? For 14 years I’ve taught a free class one day a week at a church. I know I’m not the only one. Out of itvive had national champs and a pro. Not as much as my other stuff but that is exciting to me. Look around and see what you find. Plus if you want it, make a way. Don’t buy a game or cigarettes, buy training! Take a look at this mix of pictures from classes and travel. I’m not going to tag therm. Some are free class, some pro. Some exotic travel, some in my tiny town.all of them equally important and equally as popular when I post.
The point is, if you want to train martial arts, you can find a way. Maybe not free where you are but work to afford it heck I’ll teach you cheap through video ( coming product). You can, you just have to try. Want to be a travel writer? Start with writing about things in your area. Parks, malls and even super cheap restaurants. Sharpen your skills and see where it goes. Remember, people who don’t live where you do might think joes hog fest cafe is the coolest place they’ve read about! Take a look at a few more pics and we will talk about helping you.
